Li-ion batteries have a longer lifespan and higher efficiency but are more expensive than sealed lead acid batteries. These batteries have a high energy density, meaning they can store more energy in a smaller volume.
These batteries are popular in solar systems and have a longer lifespan compared to standard lithium-ion batteries. They are also safer and have a lower risk of explosion.
These batteries have good resistance to environmental conditions and perform well at very high and low temperatures. However, due to their toxicity and high cost, their applications are more limited.

- Compatibility with Charge Controllers: Solar batteries must be compatible with solar charge controllers to ensure optimal and safe charging and discharging.
- Capacity: The battery’s capacity indicates the amount of energy it can store, determining how long it can power the system.
- Cycle Life: This refers to the number of times a battery can be fully charged and discharged without significantly reducing its capacity.
- Depth of Discharge (D0D): This is the percentage of the battery’s capacity that can be safely discharged without causing damage. Lithium-ion and lithium iron phosphate batteries typically have a higher depth of discharge.
- Charge/Discharge Efficiency: Some batteries, such as lithium-ion, have higher efficiency in charge and discharge cycles, meaning less energy is wasted.

- Proper Installation Location: Batteries should be placed in dry environments with proper ventilation to ensure temperature control and extend battery life.
